RAMPART WALK

Walking for half a day on the ramparts of the old city of Jerusalem

Ramparts walk

 

Walk Description:

 

Start at the Jaffa Gate.

 

Ascend the Wall.

 

View the Old and New City of Jerusalem.

 

Walk past the Armenian Quarter.

 

View of Montefiori’s Windmill and suburb, the first Jewish Suburb outside the walls built in 1860.

 

Continue to the Zion Gate.

 

Spectacular view of the Dome of the Rock and Mt. Zion.

 

Descend to the Western Wall (Wailing Wall)

 

continue through the Dung Gate to the Milo (fortress of the kings of Judah)

 

walk along the Kidron Valley where you can have a beautiful view of the Mt. of Olives and the ancient monumental tombs in the valley.

 

Optional extension. Visit the City of David.
